Gamevest - Taking the lead with smashing record prices

Gamevest has once again proven themselves as one of South Africa’s top game breeders, breaking yet another record price in South Africa’s game industry.

An astonishing amount of R7.8 million was reached for Top Deck, the much sought after 17” White Saddleback Blesbuck, at the ABSA Kirkwood Game Auction on Friday 27 June.

Freddie Oosterhuis, the Marketing Director of Gamevest Game Breeders, said in a statement to Wildboere.com that they are very satisfied with the purchase of this magnificent animal and with Gamevest’s current success rate, this will prove to be one of many sound investments for the company.

“We here at Gamevest are extremely proud to be the new owners of such an exceptional and rare animal” Oosterhuis said, stating that the investment demonstrates the Gamevest policy of only buying top genetics.

“With our Managing Director Phillip Mostert bidding, we spent a total of R13 million at the ABSA Kirkwood Game Auction, purchasing all ewes covered by White Saddleback rams as well as Yellow Blesbuck rams and nearly all the Nyalas available at the auction” Oosterhuis said. “Wildebeest cows pregnant by a Kings Wildebeest and some Buffalo were also part of the total investment consisting of some 100 animals.”

Top Deck stands as one of three SA records for Gamevest Game Breeders contributing to previous records recently broken with the obtaining of Cortez – the 28” Golden Wildebeest Bull sold at the Mpatamacha Prime Genetics Auction for R3,4 million – and a Yellow Blesbuck ram at the WRSA Bela Bela Auction with the bid at R 375 000. In addition to the current game at record prises, Mostert also bought the 49" Cross Zambian Sable bull, Domino, at the Prime Genetics auction to be used as part of their already extensive breeding program.

Top Deck was offered by Petri Snyman and is the brother of the now famous White Saddleback Blesbuck Mnumzane; which held the previous SA record at R4.2 million. The highly prized animal will be arriving at Gamevest’s Thaba Motswere game ranch near Thabazimbi on Monday.

The turnover for the Auction was R 26,5 Million.
