Thabazimbi, May 18, 2015 – Well known businessman and legend in the Game Industry, Mr. Freddie Oosterhuis, was involved in a fatal car accident Friday night 15 May 2015 at around 21h15.
Driving his Double-Cab Land Cruiser bakkie, Freddie was returning home to his game farm near Thabazimbi when he collided with an oncoming truck on the R517 toward Lephalale, near the Thabazimbi turnoff. He died at the scene.
“This comes as a huge shock for all of us here at Gamevest Game Breeders, as Freddie was an outstanding leader in our company,” Gamevest Director, Morrison Smit said. “Freddie’s contribution to the success of the company is of tremendous value and there is no doubt that his absence will have a lasting impact on all of our lives.”
The ground-breaking work Freddie did as prominent Game Rancher, outstanding entrepreneur and successful businessman in various industries, made an enormous difference in the way that the wildlife and hunting industries are marketed in South Africa.
Through numerous enterprises, Freddie proved himself as a driving force without equal in various industries ranging from Agriculture, Franchising and Game Ranching to Aviation.
“With Freddie being one of the main driving forces behind the group of Companies, he will surely be missed. We are however confident that the leadership of both Consortio Capital Management Company and Gamevest Game Breeders are of impeccable nature and will keep the focus on the positive growth of the companies,” Smit added.
Freddie Oosterhuis is survived by his wife Reta, his son Werner and his unborn son, WJ – which we are all excited to welcome to the family on 3 August 2015.
The memorial service will be held at the Lewende Woord Church in Brummeria, Pretoria on Tuesday, 26 May 2015 at 11h00.
